Biographical Notes

Dr. Suming Li

Dr. Suming Li obtained his B.S. degree in 1984 at the Department of Polymer Science, Chengdu University of Science and Technology. In June1985 he moved to France to prepare his Ph.D. thesis in the Laboratory of Macromolecular Substances, University of Rouen. He obtained his Ph.D. in "Polymer Chemistry" in June 1989. Then he worked for two years as a post-doc at the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) of France. He was named in 1992 research scientist of CNRS. From 1995 to 1996, he worked as a visiting scientist in the NSF Center for Polymer Biodegradation Research, University of Massachusetts Lowell. In October 1996, he was named senior scientist of CNRS.

Suming Li’s research interests include synthesis, structure-property relationships, degradation mechanisms and applications of various biodegradable polymeric materials, in particular polyesters derived from lactide, glycolide, caprolactone and their copolymers with poly (ethylene glycol). His research work has led to over 70 articles and 5 patents. These papers are largely referred by the scientific community (1688 citations counted in 1998). He also serves as reviewer for 19 scientific journals.
