Biographical Notes

Masafumi Shirai

Masafumi Shirai received the Doctor of Engineering degree from Osaka University, Japan, in 1989.  From 1988 to 1996, he was a Research Associate at Osaka University, and then an Associate Professor at Osaka University from 1996 to 2002.  From 2002 to the present, he is a Professor at Research Institute of Electrical Communication, Tohoku University, Japan.  His current interests include computational materials design for spintronics device applications, such as half-metallic ferromagnets and diluted magnetic semiconductors, and theoretical analysis of transport properties of nano-structured systems.
